Hey guys! Has anyone tried Windows 7? I haven't really heard much about it, and I was almost inclined to think that it failed.........but I'd definitely like to hear more about it...

No one expects the Spanish Inquisition!

I'm using it. Not really much to say about it except that its a pretty nice OS in terms of usability and.. its Windows.

I'll take that as moderately okay? Not really revolutionary?

I'd say "pretty good" is more accurate. Its a nice OS. My wife enjoys it, so I installed it on her computer. It deals with older hardware fairly well, and its mostly solid.

I'm not sure I'd describe it as revolutionary, but I'm hard-pressed to describe any OS as revolutionary. I tend to be ambivalent about the actual OS that runs on a computer though.
W7 is good. It's a huge improvement over Vista. It has not failed, people are generally happy with it.
I like it more than XP, and I liked XP a lot.

So it's a good OS I take it then? I didn't really like Vista too much, and it's had me having second thoughts about Windows 7, especially ever since I bought a Mac......

It's still Windows. It still has that annoying thing of not being able to move a window to a better location while the application is "busy"... Periodically applications just explode. Took me four goes to install VS2008 -- the CD was a bit dodgy and when it hit the bad read, the installer would lock up the machine. Nice.

But it's better than Vista, Windows ME, 95, 3.1...

On a 64bit machine with oodles of RAM it's actually not even turgidly slow :-)

I would say if you like XP and do not like Vista, than you will find 7 better than XP in most aspects. Though indeed there is nothing really special
Definitely better than Vista and XP, no doubt about it.

But it's still Windows and there's nothing massively "wow" about it. It still gets clogged up, bloated and bogged down after extensive usage so standard, basic maintenance still applies.

I'm running it on a three year old Dell laptop with 2GB RAM and a 2Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, and it's mostly fine. Any slowdown is just because of the extraneous crap I've installed.
