Price for a next gen game model?
Hi all,
I am considering to hire an 3d artists, before that I am wondering, what would be the price range for a complete game ready model? Please, write your suggestions. I need sort of a transformer: a airplane and a mech done according to blue prints and reference images. Model specification - a model for the next gen graphical engine:
1) low-mid poly mesh (~5-15K triangles)
2) rigged
3) diffuse with baked AO, normal map, specular map
So basically it should look like airplanes from lets say HAWX or ACE COMBAT 6, and coming mechwarrior 5 mechs.

Depends on your blueprint as well as how complex the "transforming" is. The model itself probably $3,000 - $5,000. Again, the whole "transforming" aspect could make it complicated to model correctly an animate for transforming.

Most important question: Who is doing the model?
Getting models and art from Industrial Light and Magic or another major special effects company would be very expensive.
On the other end, there are hobbyists who might do it for free if you let them join your project.
If you plan on hiring a professional modeler or modeling company, expect to pay a bit more than the regular salary cost for their location. A professional from a Hollywood movie company is expensive. A professional working out of a rural location would be less expensive. A freelance individual working out of a poor country would be fairly cheap.

And mostly I need good quality textures, because the mesh is not perfect, but done.
