I'm realy into listening chiptunes at the moment (check Covox on youtube for some excellent examples) and I suddenly realised this would probably be a good place to ask about them. The gameboy seems to be a popular tool for making them, and I still got 2 old ones laying around. I was wondering if people here are familiar with this, or got some tips on how to start. I'm not really interested in an elaborate audio setup, I just want to toy around with the oldskool sounds a bit (or 8, heh :) ) and possibly save some melodies to harddisk.
Hello Kirl,

Yes, I love Covox music too !
If you have got a Game Boy, use LSDJ or Nanoloop.

If you haven't got, you can use VST 8-bit plugins (like Magical 8bit Plug...) and a sequencer (like FL Studio, Renoise, Cubase...

About plugins, you can check my resource. It's free and recognized by lot of people and musicians :

Excellent, thanks for the links!

Do you know if I save tunes on the GameBoy and upload them later to pc?
Also what format does it save as?

While looking through the forum just now I also found this cool Flash app a few threads down.
