I just made a tiny (92kb) utility that checks the OpenGL capabilities of a video card and makes a log file, full with information (including the version of DirectX installed, in case you use it too). Just run the application and then open the "log.txt" file that will be created. This app is useful to send over the Internet to friends (they run the utility and send you the "log.txt" file back, so you can be sure that your game/demo will run on their computer). I have a similar program on my page. it only checks for opengl though.

firstly ... i saw the post go up, and downloaded the file no problem!

secondly ... a suggestion! it would be nice to see which modes are hardware accelerated, and which are rendered in software ... which is easy - just check the PFD_GENERIC_ACCELERATED flag after setting the display mode!
