Using 'of Might and Magic' in game name... ?
I am just wondering if anyone knows if it would be legal to use the words 'of Might and Magic' in a game name.
For example, 'World of Might and Magic', 'Dark Ages of Might and Magic', 'Clash of Might and Magic', 'Will of Might and Magic', or 'Whatever of Might and Magic'.
I just like the sound of it; it implies both physical strength and magical prowess.
Does anyone know if this would be a 'copyright' infringement, or if it is ok to use? Would I have to contact UBI with the exact phrase and ask permission?
Any ideas?
If you visit Ubisoft's Might and Magic website ( http://mightandmagic.uk.ubi.com/ ) you'll see that it's a registered trademark (as indicated by the little letter R in a circle after the logo.) So yes, it's a registered trademark, and as such, you may not use it without permission from Ubisoft. Which, in all likelihood, you would be asked to pay through the nose for.

Hey thanks a lot for those links Tom Sloper. I thought the second one was pretty witty. :P
Ok so I guess I'll call it 'Adventures of Strength and Spells' Just kidding. :)
I'll have to think of something more original that ties into the game play.
By the way, I read through several of your articles when I first considered getting into the game industry a couple years ago. They helped me quite a bit.
Thank you.
