Via geek.com... Introducing the SarcMark. It's a new punctuation symbol meant to identify sarcastic sentences. Effectively, it's a dot encircled. I wonder how many people bought it, not realizing that the @ character is essentially the same thing. :) Too funny. On that note, I'm going to to buy it right away, as soon as I get back from getting the oil and transmission fluid changed on my level 90 gold dragon@
To be fair, it's not really anything like the @ which is more of an 'a' encircled.

That said I can't see buying a single character, one which only can be seen by others who purchased it, for $1.99.

I was being sarcastic man. :)

However, if you want to get technical, it's also rotated 180 degrees.

Man, maybe we do need the SarcMark. ;-)
How exactly are you supposed to purchase a character, anyway? Does it have a Unicode code point assigned to it? Is a glyph for it supposed to magically appear in every font in your system, or something?

tl;dr sounds like someone is trolling.
I can't really see how this is useful in any way, or will make the creator any amount of money.

It's gotten some press, though, so maybe that's part of it.

I like the idea of a standard sarcasm button, but technically I don't see how this can work well.

There's a crapton of characters that go unused in every fontset, why don't we pick one of those instead?

So my first thought was "They must be joking. Right? Or are they?" and then I realized that it markets itself.

Anyway, the only reason I use sarcasm in the first place is because I like the momentary confusion it creates.

Agreed. What's the fun in being a royal smartarse if everyone can instantly tell whether or not you're being serious?
