Hey! I'd like to start by introducting myself and my friend. My name is Jack and the other guy's name is Jamie! (AKA: BillinghamJ) We own and run an online game called Hablake and I used to run HobbaLodge and GrandLodge. All of them are/were pretty famous and popular games, so we know where we're coming from. However, it was copyright, and we've become a bit bored of the same old, same old copying someone (well something) else. Also we've been thinking a bit about the fact that it's all illegal... So, we decided that we wanted to make our own game, from the ground up. We decided to create Milo Streets. A game based around the "Underworld". (IE: Gangs, the Mafia, etc...) The basic info... We've decided that Milo Streets will be an BBMMOFPS. (Well, Jamie called it that anyways... :s) For those that don't speak geek, apparently it stands for Browser Based Massively Multiplayer Online First Person Shooter. This means that it will run in the browser, lots of people can play it, and you play it like CoD. Simples. We haven't really decided exactly what will be possible in the game yet, but we have a basic list of things that will be included... Trade drugs for cash; Interact with other people around the world and with your associates; Spend your cash on clothes, items, drugs, apartments; Create your own gangs and Mafias with other Gangstas; Customize your own Gangsta all the way from baggy trousers to posh suits; Start from the bottom of the pile, and work all the way up to being the Godfather! Of course, this is still adaptable! If you've got an idea, PM Jamie or I, or post it below... we'll include credits for your idea in the thread. Who's doing what... This is a basic list of what each person does. Project Manager: Me! - I'm overseeing the whole project and keeping an eye on things. Coder: Jamie - I've got Jamie (our pro coder) slaving 24/7 (well, almost) over a hot laptop, coding Milo Streets! Graphics: No one yet - We need a good graphics designer to make the game look amazing and realistic. Think you've got what it takes? PM Jamie or I, or post below... We may also be taking on more coders as and when needed, but we don't right now and we'll let you know if we do. How it's gonna work... Obviously, we're not going to go into much detail here. It would bore you all, and it would give away our secrets. ;) But I'll tell you some stuff... Form: Flex 3, a Flash framework. Language: ActionScript 3, the Flash code. Server: ElectroServer 4. However, we (well, Jamie) will make a proper server eventually. Last little thing(s)... On the lines of beta testing, we do occasionally upload our latest changes and share the link with randomers to make sure it's alright. So, if you'd like to test it, PM Jamie or I and we'll sort something out. Thanks, JackThe legal stuff... Milo Streets is owned by Kelumo Corporation, a formal company. The Directors are Jamie and I. This means that we will be completely equal in terms of rights and ranks. Milo Streets is a trademark which is owned by the Kelumo Corporation. (In English, this means that we legally own it all and we will sue your arse if you try to nick anything. :P) Thanks Again. [Edited by - MiloStreets on January 4, 2010 1:49:04 PM]

So, an update...

I've taken a little break in development, as Hablake will be coming out of Beta in the next few days. I've been working really hard on it, make sure you come and check out what we've been up to. http://www.Hablake.co.uk, ignore the phishing warning.

Back to Milo Streets, due to the concerns raised by someone on another Forum, I've done a little bit of digging and I'm inclined to think that Flash probably won't be able to cope with the graphics rendering that will be needed, so I think that it's gonna have to be a download and install type of thing. I've been playing with the XNA framework, and it's not too hard... so once Hablake is done, I'll keep you informed with what I'm doing.

Thanks,
Jamie
You may consider looking at the Unity engine's browser embedding ability.
