When the term is used to offend, yes.

I'm not usually easily offended, so, no.
I'm not offended by nerd, I just correct the person. I am a geek and I consider being called one a compliment. [wink]

I'm not offended. I just get a friend to help me file the paper work for their legal death certificate.

It takes YEARS for most people to sort something like that out.

To be offended by the utterance of a word is to admit that the word applies to you. The correct reaction to the utterance of offensive words is to understand that it says more about the speaker than the subject.

Nerd.
Both tacitly imply that I'm smarter than the speaker. Why would anyone be offended by that?

I love being a geek.
No. I often refer to myself as a geek.
capn_midnight you find the words offensive?
In response to Konfusius and completely off topic. Honky is a word I could never be offended by, even when it is done so with a negative tone. This is the same as geek and many others such as "You rich bastard" :)
"You insulted me!" I did not say that in the private message Tom Sloper!
