Was looking at the reviews today and it seemed like fun. Kind of like Diablo meets L4D. For those of you that have it, is it worth the $50? Also, have you been playing with other people or solo?
Well, the new DLC (Zombie Island) makes it feel a bit like L4D, what with zombies running around everywhere, but in general it's a first-person Diablo where you kill stuff and watch it explode into loot.

If you're playing with friends, either split-screen or through LIVE, the game is worth every penny and then some. It's a fun experience that will keep you coming back for more. However the solo experience is quite lonely, and the rare loot doesn't drop as often as when you're in a group. The game was clearly designed around the co-op element.

But at the end of the day let's just say that it's the only game where I actually earned all 55 achievements (including the 5 from DLC). Plus there is more DLC on the horizon!

Its an incredibly fun co-op game. As a single player game, it gets old fairly quickly. I'd say rent it if you're just going to play through single player, buy if you're going to play it with friends.
This game seemed really neat as the graphics looked amazing. I would love to try it out sometime myself as people seem to think it's really cool.

How's the story?

How's the story?

Its pretty basic. You're on a planet looking for something called "The Vault," which is rumored to contain riches. You get visions of a woman trying to help you find it. You do quests in an attempt to get clues/leads to find the vault.

Edit:
BTW, the DLC is actually quite excellent and humorous. The only gripe my friends and I had with it was the lack of "unique" drops. There was nothing you couldn't get in the main game, and the drop-rate/quality was so-so. Getting a common item after spending an hour collecting brains was kinda a kick in the balls.
I don't have it, my brother has it for xbox and I've watched him play. It's not as cinematic as Fallout3. That is, the graphics are not interesting enough to watch someone else play. He plays it solo and group. The maps and challenges are the same for both. When playing as a group the payoffs are multiplied by the size of your group. I haven't seen L4D. I didn't think it was like Diablo. It's more like Quake, except you're running around a desert wasteland.

It's good, but I found online coop almost unplayable. It gives you servers from all over the world, and even local servers suck (dont expect MW2).

Shame because it's how the game is meant to be played. Also, second playthrough is better than the first (when you get to level 35+). I would replay it if only it was better as an online experience.

Everything is better with Metal.

If you don't have any friends to play with, wait for a price drop.

The story isn't that great and works mostly as a backdrop to killing stuff in different places, on the PC the handling of the cars is pretty awful, you steer with the mouse while accelerating with the keyboard, I remember UT2k4 had better vehicle control and variety, I don't get why they would only give you one kind of vehicle (a buggy) with such bad control.

I read somewhere that if you wanted to get good loot you should start a multiplayer game and then play by your self, if someone joins you, great, if not, you get the good loot, thing is, on multiplayer you do whatever mission the host is on, so don't expect strangers to just join you in the middle of a game.

I haven't got the DLC, so I can't comment on that.
Hey, is Bordelands like Fallout 3 (open world)?

No one expects the Spanish Inquisition!

Yeah, it's pretty open world. It's kind of like a cross between Team Fortress and World of Warcraft, without the "massive" part. You have a character that gains levels, gaining levels gives you access to stronger weapons and bonuses (like the ability to regenerate ammo, heal party members by shooting them, or other crazy stuff). It's an absolute blast even with just one other person It gets a tad repetitive by the end, as all such games do, but it does a good job of spacing out enemies to give a constant learning curve throughout the game. I never felt like the game was overly cheap, I just knew that I wasn't in a place I should have been for my level.
