It is odd, but the white doesn't bother me on pages that I don't know are offered in a darker theme. I have no idea why, but I can't stand to read Gamedev in the white scheme and have to use the black.

Kind of similar with me. The sub silver theme on phpBB doesn't bother me at all really (though would perfer a darker theme). Something about the light blue with white on this site is offputting to me. The "G" watermark seems very Geocities to me as well.
and i like the christmas theme. I hated it at first, but its the same thing every year.. it'll all be over soon and we'll all be dead.
i used to really dig the black theme too until the white theme came out and i was like thank god, gamedev.net blends in with the rest of my apps now. (VS primarily) so the boss won't realize that i spend 75% of my time gamedev surfing. The black is a dead giveaway that you're not doing what you're supposed to be doing..

No, the solution is to change all your VS colors so that they match gamedev [grin]
