win7 deal... is this for real?
check this out... Is that for real? The prices are like half of everywhere else. If you click on which one you want (for instance, Ultimate), it lists the product version as "Download (from Microsoft's official sever)". The Microsoft store has the same product listed for download at like 3 times as much.
...i've searched for "elecsurf", and they have stores in a slew of mainstream online retail sites. For the most part the reviews are decent, with a couple complaining about faulty laptops.
...so, what do you guys think? doesn't this seem too good to be true?
Not sure about that one.
I just went to win741.com and bought a license for $30 as a student.

Amateurs practice until they do it right.Professionals practice until they never do it wrong.
Perhaps they are selling OEM software and keys, and have neglected to mention that? The way Microsoft sells copies of Windows is similar to the way game companies sell console games, as far as I know. There are agreements as to what you can sell it for I believe. The fact that these guys are selling it for half the price everyone else is selling it for seems a bit suspect. You could try emailing them and asking them why it is so cheap. If it is just "We just sell it cheaper", I would probably look elsewhere because that is fishy.
I thought about that. It seems like they primarily deal in refurbished laptops, so maybe they buy the OS in bulk and get a deal... except wouldn't they be using the OEM version then? But the product pages all say:
Which, while grammatically incorrect, is very straight-forward. They also list a 7-day full refund policy and 100-day defective item exchange.
Quote: All of the products we offer are full retail versions with a genuine license key. You will be able register the license key online, as well as updates.

The site says the sales are handled through the Yahoo stores, and the store system is indeed at Yahoo.net. I guess Yahoo has some control on who they let sell things through them?
I also Googled them though and for the computers there are only negative reviews that seem legit (lots of posts that seem obviously fake with positive reviews).

System builder licenses go for much less than the standard retail license. Maybe that's what they're selling? On the other hand, the downloads are marked "Retail," which implies that it isn't.
