Really? It's happened to me twice and to four other people I know.
Firefox is now the most insecure browser. Due to its popularity, it's being targetted like crazy.
This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine. My signature is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. My signature, without me, is useless. Without my signature, I am useless.

Pretty much. I used to not run an adblocker out of respect for the sites trying to make a buck. But after two viruses and days of wasted effort trying to get rid of them I said fuck it and now run adblock, peerguardian, and noscript. It's a shame it had to come to this, but oh well. This is why we can't have nice things.

Quote:Original post by Ysaneya When this happens to me (rarely, fortunately), my immediate reaction is to do a system restore. Normally, Windows will automatically create restore points each time you install a software, or every few days. So far it was always enough to get ride of the virus.
Y.
Some viruses can target the system restore too, sadly. In most cases it will still work, but you should double-check that everything's back in good condition once you're restored!

I recently started using Safari for Windows. I was downloading a whole bunch of browsers to test some web development, and found I really liked it. It is blazing fast (even more so than Firefox, believe it or not) and has a very novel start-up screen that shows real-time previews of all your favorite sites.
It is also not being targeted yet by browser-specific malware.
