Why am I having such trouble doing this? I'm on a new laptop with vista, and everything is named something different or works differently as far as workgroups and networking your home goes. I'm trying to network my old Compaq pc which is on a workgroup MACSUCKS with my vista computer, which doesn't seem to believe in workgroups, whats the deal here? Can anyone point me in the right direction to get this set up?

I'm not in front of my vista pc right now, so I can't help you, but I just had to say that is the best workgroup name I've seen to-date.

I'm pretty sure Vista still does workgroups (just upgraded to 7 and it still does).

Try going to the System Properties and click the "Change..." button under the "Computer Name" tab.

I just navigated to the ip address with run and it works, but it doesn't show up in the network folder, stupid.
Google network discovery. I think the default state in Vista is off for enhanced security so you won't see any other computers until you enable it.
