Education for Game Design?
Is education highly admired or is it something
that is not necessary in the game design industry?
If so, does anyone know of any schools you
would recommend for game design?
Maybe a four year degree arts major? or a specified 2 year degree in game design?
What are your thoughts about education for animation/artists/game design?
What about all these 2 year degrees that seemed to just recently pop up everywhere?

Well, game designers are generally the well-rounded individuals of the game development community. I''d say stick your hands in everything you can, most of all writing and other creative tasks like drawing. Also try out a few psych classes - these will teach you to know your audience, an important factor in designing a game. So basically, yes - an education is definetly a good thing, especially if it''s a thorough one.

Where else is there a 2 year degree in Game Design?

I don''t see the value in a design degree. Designers are very important people in the company and so it doesn''t make any sense to hire some guy fresh out of college. You could try working your way up through level design I suppose, but I''m pretty sure it is easier through programming or art.
