Perhaps it was only visible on the co.uk site* but a few days ago they celebrated the 20th anniversary of Wallace and Gromit.
I thought that was a pretty cool logo too.
* the Dutch equivalent used to have fewer features and somehow refused to remember my preference for the English language, so I have always used the British domain

That said, do people really use search engine home pages? Searching from the address bar is a lot quicker!
Dunno, for me it's most convenient to keep google.com/ncr as homepage. The only alternative would be about:blank as homepage imho, anything else is a waste of bandwith and time. The search box to the right of the Firefox address bar could work too, but I have no need for it.

Um yeah, it's a habbit I guess. Google has a javascript that gives the search bar keyboard focus, and that's what I'm used to. I normally use seamonkey and google is also the page that opens when I open a new tab (firefox can't do that unlike seamonkey). I'm slowly getting used to firefox's blank new tabs and pressing "tab" once to search though, when on firefox boxes.
I like today's logo better. It features Bert and Ernie.

Hmm, I never see these - probably because I'm still going here.
Well, more accurately, here. Same shit, though, really.
