Hi all, It's still in the very early stages, but you can download the first release of my game Ballistic below. The maps are far from finished and some don't work but you can play on the "Industrial" map. Also, the player sprites are just place-holders, so they look pretty crap. Because it is built using Visual Studio, you will need the MSVC redist to run it. I suspect most people here would already have that if they use VS but i will have to look into how i can package that with my game. Download Ballistic 0.0.1 I would like to hear what you think of it but please know that this release is not yet a proper, playable game but rather just to show you how far i have got with development. Considering it is my first game i think it is quite an achievement to have the GUI, physics and AI systems working, even if they are far from done. You have zero screenshots of it on your website?

NBA2K, Madden, Maneater, Killing Floor, Sims

Screenshots++!
There's one on the web site, but only showing a GUI screen. Game shots ;)

Also, you may want to fix your webpage, you seem to complain about something with IE, but I can't read it because it's covered by the menu buttons.

Fruny: Ftagn! Ia! Ia! std::time_put_byname! Mglui naflftagn std::codecvt eY'ha-nthlei!,char,mbstate_t>

you might want to change the name of the game:

Alright, i will update the screenshots as soon as i can. But there really isn't much to show in terms of screenshots because i am still just using place-holder art and unfinished maps.

Yeah, that's the thing i was complaining about :D. I realised a while ago that (quite ironically) IE was placing the buttons on over the text that explained it. Please use Firefox or Opera to view the page.
I don't know too much about html or css so i can't fix it by myself.

Damn, does this mean i can't use the name, or just that i can't use it commercially (which i am not going to)? Besides, when i first came up with the name about 2 years ago, this was the only notable Google result that came up. I also just found this, but it is Ballistics with an "s".

Microsoft seem to think that your website needs to be displayed in compatibility mode (hit F12 then select the standard IE 8 or IE 7 modes and it renders correctly). If you select Tools, Compatibility View Settings and untick "Include updated website lists from Microsoft" you'll notice that the site also displays correctly - it's on a list that claims that the site won't work in IE 8, even though it does.

It appears to be a problem with SourceForge, as all sites under SourceForge switch IE to this compatibility view. I'm not sure if you can override this behaviour with an compatibility tag, but it's worth a shot.

Thanks for the tip, benryves. I just viewed it in IE8 and it renders correctly! (although the background isn't tiled all the way to the bottom). I have only ever tested it on IE7 that i have at home. I also just tested on Chrome and it works there too.

It means the name is too generic and you should come up with a more memorable name that's easier to find when people only half remember the game name
