Home Page
What do you use as your home page?
For years I've been using Yahoo. But lately there have just been too many ads for me. Also, I feel like the news headlines are dumbed down and misleading just to get you to click on them. I tried switching to cnn.com, but to my surprise that's been just as bad.
So what would be a good home page for me to use? I'm sure there are tons out there. I'm looking for something that will give me informative news headlines on both domestic and international events, and preferably access to a google search. Other nifty features would be great. However, I don't store cookies after I close my browser, so I think that just about eliminates the google home page.
Nowadays Firefox just brings up all my tabs up. I don't think I've seen my home page, whatever it is, in years.
For news — I use nytimes.com and the BBC. They're both heavy pages to load for startup, though.

if you have mozilla firefox you can download an app(free) called ad blocker that blocks all ads from appearing on the page. if you want to keep your browser i suggest that you either find an app like ad blocker or maybe try something like bing.com(maybe not sure how that works out quite yet).
GOOD LUCK!!

I think you're talking about AdBlock Plus. The only caveat with that is sometimes you'll be turning it on and off to get (legitimate) content on certain websites to work properly. To just solve that one problem, you might find it just as annoying as the ads.
yeah I haven't seen my homepage in a while, but I just checked and it's set to the f***ing weather. It's pretty much the only way I like seeing my weather update. Right to the point.

Mine's this.
I just checked, and yes, that's mine too. It's what I used for years before Firefox and tabs...I couldn't standing having an entire web page load.

Mine too, and this way the location bar is selected on startup so I can go where I actually want quicker.
Speed Dial, of course!

Since firefox has stable support for saving/restoring all open tabs, the homepage has become obsolete to me (and before that, it was about:blank).
I installed that on my gf's firefox profile. Personally, I like the new address bar in combo with tags more (yay, just type "comics" to get all bookmarked comics, or "daily" to get ..., well, etc.)
pre-edit: Oh, I see you run Opera, so I can't tell about it's address bar capabilities :S
