I believe it is a cut scene sequence using in-game assets...I'm pretty sure it is rendered in real-time though I don't recall the shadowing effects being that good in the first one - maybe they've improved 'em.

Nah it's a trailer. Probably just the front of the game or part of it. The first L4D had an intro video to set the mood.

Yeah, the shadowing effects and facial animations are far too good to be done with the actual engine. There was also a huge draw distance in the outside scenes. I am assuming it is pre-rendered.

Heavily scripted animation, but nothing that is beyond the Source engine as far as character animation goes.

But I still feel that the trailers in the day light have colours that are too bright, too cheerful, to carry much of a horror movie feeling. I liked the night maps of L4D.

yes that's exactly it :P He's also become a couch after quitting his day job. Zoey turned black and Francis and Bill found a fountain of youth after eating zombie flesh. Oh and Bill struck it rich in the stock market. The plot has really gotten complex.

Footage of the hurricane campaign. This specific video isn't amazing but some of the ones in the sequence are pretty awesome.

This actually is making me much more excited for the game. It seems to be turning out more than just a mod for l4d1.
