Hi I want to distribute a small demo (3 MB). Does anybody know of some good free service where I can upload and the client doesn't need any ticket? Thanks
They really need to invent some sort of computer network, but like, on a global scale. That way, people all over the world could share information and programs! Whoever does that will make a mint!

Actually though, I don't know of any free hosts these days, but what about something like download.com?

If you can afford 3.99 a month 48 dollars a year then you can just get your own hosting from 1and1.com and probably others. Before you ask about bandwidth 1and1 allows users to use "unlimited" bandwidth. It's probably under a system of "fair use", but you won't have a problem with 3 MB since 150,000 downloads would be a trivial 440 GB of bandwidth anyway. Also you get a domain name registration so you can just be all like example.com/client.zip or even make a site :)
If all you need is a file host... it's a little clunky to upload to, but check out Google Sites. Create a site, go to "Manage Site", and click "Attachments". Uploading a ~3MB .zip should be no problem, but they do reject bare EXEs. The advantage: a direct link, and Google-grade download speeds.
If you don't mind sharing the source you could always host the project on something like CodePlex, Google Code or SourceForge. If you have a machine that you are likely to have running at the same time that someone would be accessing the file you could use Opera Unite.

What exactly is your demo? A game demo? If so, you could ask about hosting it on Fileplanet. If it is not a game, you could try to focus in on what relevant services there are. It is unlikely that you will get very much attention by just hosting on a "Store everything here!" file hosting service. Try to stay relevant to what you are offering, and you have more of a chance of getting attention.

Assuming it is the demo in your IOTD (which is very nice btw), there is devimg.net which allows you to post a screenshot and also upload your zip (or so I believe as I've never actually used the site I just know it exists [cool])

Also, I hope it goes well in your job search [smile]

If you're only looking to have one 3MB file hosted and it's a game, I can put it on my server. Send me a PM if that's all it is.
