I saw a movie a long time ago and I liked it. I want to watch it again but I forget the name and any actors in it. Basically theres a power outage in a major city, and the movie shows how quickly we go from 'civilized people' to violent animals when the system stops working. Killing eachother over a tank of gas, etc. Post the names of any movies that sound remotely similar to this concept. Even if its not the specific one I'm thinking about, I'll still watch it because I like the concept.
This isn't the movie you are looking for, but Mad Max (1 and 2) are about what happens to a society that runs out of cheap energy (crude oil).

Found it. Its from 1996 and its called the Trigger Effect and its actually based on "The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street" Twilight episode that you posted zedz.

I checked out
">the trailer
for the Trigger Effect on youtube.

It looks a little cheasy 13 years later of course, but its still such a cool idea for a movie. I hope some sort of remake or a similar movie comes out with todays special effects and epic scale.

Beware if you watch the trailer, because like most trailers it really gives away too much. Just watch the movie :)
Summer of Sam

And if you can get a hold of the documentary, NY77: The Coolest Year in Hell -- from the synopsis:

Quote:
New York City, 1977 - It was a time when the city had fallen into decay, with too few jobs, money, police, schools, and social services. There was a city wide blackout with major looting, a serial killer on the loose, and the Bronx was burning. And yet out of the chaos emerged one of the most creative times any city has ever encountered.
...
Out of chaos came creation. From the South Bronx came hip hop. From the Lower East Side, the thrashing guitars of punk. And all over the city, a disco revolution was underway. Elaborate, finely crafted graffiti art decorated the subway cars and break-dancers shimmied in the streets. The sexual revolution was in full swing. In January 1977, most of this activity existed in its own underground bubble. Yet by the end of the year this artistic expression was on its way to mainstream America, and would be with us for generations to come.

I'll hijack this thread. 10 years ago, I saw a movie that involved a detective interrogating a suspect, and the suspect told him about his life. At the end of the movie, the detective realized that the suspect had made it all up based on newspaper articles that were pinned to the wall of the interrogation room. That's all I remember, and it's driving me nuts that I can't remember the title.

Curious note: That movie, as good as it is, was shot in 15 days. Cool huh?
