Hey guys! Just a quick law-noob question: I was planning on writing a commercial Moorhuhn-clone-game. What I'm not sure about is how close to the original I can get. What about: - the name "Moorhuhn" - the graphics style (like the cartoonish chickens) - the gameplay (side scrolling, flying enemies, clicking them to shoot them etc.) - the graphics and sounds used in the game How far can I go with "copying" these things? How much is legal? Thanks for you help :-)
You can definitely create a game with flying enemies passing the screen, those have been around since long before the Moorhuhn game, but you can't copy anything from that particular game, not the name, not the graphics, not the sound. If you make your own graphics they can't be too similar, and if you're going to sell it you probably shouldn't use exclusively flying chickens either.. mix it with ducks or something at least, and don't draw them with any likeness to the Moorhuhn game.
