Or look at this way -- next time your uncle's friend calls you so that you can fix his computer or console, send him this picture. Tell him you'll do it for half. That spam link is about as subtle as a whorehouse in Candyland.

I do wonder how they do it...like they must faff around with laptop computers and keyboards and stuff for ages to make it seem worthwhile. If you were to shell out $130 and have a guy come in, connect two cables and spend five minutes setting up an account you'd be pissed.

Someone hire them and record what they're doing. Go GO!

I see... and just how subtle is one those, for those of us who have never been to... candyland?
I do believe that sign deserves an "RTFM" sticker.

I'm thinking it might actually go unnoticed for awhile.

Depends. If you have no idea how to set something up or don't care.. then why would it bother you if an 'expert' could do it in ten minutes?

I've had people pay me half that for taking five minutes to fix a computer. I used to do it cheaper, but then I realized that 80-100usd is what most people think 15 minutes of computer fixery is worth.

As for Geek Squad? I don't know much about them. My guess is its a ripoff. A friend of mine apparently was just hired there, so I'll have to ask him what they do. He couldn't fix a sandwich though.. so they must have some automated tools for nuking virii and such.

I used to work there. They do the things that you would do if you got a virus or spyware. Scan using some tools, attempt to remove, backup data and reinstall OS if necessary. Except instead of doing it for free, they charge outrageous prices. Similar to your local Jiffy Lube if you know nothing about cars.

Sweet Jesus that's funny. Come to think of it, is he in Candyland?
