Sim what?

I have been drawing out ideas for a few simulation games, some people really like simulation games and others don't, it's strange. I was just wondering after life was simulated in sim city and every industry from theme parks to pizza places have been simulated, what is there left to simulate? I have a few good ideas, but until I up my programming level, I won't be able to complete them as they are far to complex, I was wondering if anyone had a simple thing that they thought would be fun to simulate but more importantly easy as it will be my first major project to date. I had an idea of a simple track layout where the player lays the track, lays buildings and trees (simple cartoony ones at that) and then puts train to track, but that isn't as innovative as I would have liked, you know? Any other ideas for simple and fun simulations? Cheers.
I don't think I've seen Sim Ninja Clan anywhere yet. I have no idea where to go with that idea though.

Sim programmer. Where you are tasked to sit down and code a sim game, that may or may not involve programming a sim game, etc. etc.

How about sim-sylvania, where you build a vampire stronghold (centered around you, the only vampire) until the inevitable torch and pitchfork mob comes to stake you.

oh, that's a good idea! I like it.

Also, you could add some romance into the game, like, in the middle of your persuasion of your dark career, you have to, erm, try to find your partner of eternal love, like a princess of another blood clan, or an exiled she-warewolf that possess holy power (LOL), a female zombie dark elf, a mummified princess of an ancient empire, etc. etc.... oh, and you could even go the twisted-fate path and try to woo a female vampire hunter....
Thanks for the thoughts

Has anyone else got any ideas? Perhaps focusing less on dark/combat things and more on happy things that don't kill/eat other things?

I'm looking to create more of a "build" sim then a "build and destroy" sim.

Any other thoughts?

Modern nation building is always a good option.

You are elected by the local government of a very small nation, and you must try and bring it from the 3rd world to a thriving first world nation. Must deal with issues like infrastructure, education, and political stability while trying to grow your economy from mainly unemployed, unskilled masses.

Each day you haven't been assassinated, you 'win'. You eventually age and retire/die of natural causes, and establish a highscore for your run though the game that is based on how well your nation did.

If you are doing poorly, you may fail an election, and lose time that you could be using to better your score. If you do very bad you may never be re-elected.

Shush, don't point out where I steal ideas from.

But I was actually thinking of a higher level than that. Tropico was fun, I really should find a copy of the full game sometime, I only played the Pirate Island one and the demo of the modern one. Has a lot of interesting ideas in it, but I think you could do well on a larger scale with simplified graphics.

I think Sim Plant could be a cool idea. Start off as a single seed and spend cells on either growing roots, thorns, leaves, flowers, fruit, or support. Manage yourself carefully so that you have enough nutrients from your roots and food from your leaves to produce fruit, as well as enough thorns to protect yourself. Produce enough fruit and spread yourself to other parts of the world that contain other challenges (flash floods, different predators, etc.).
