Another Website referall service
A while ago I praised thecounter.com for their free service giving you data on where your website hits come from. (nice to know which download sites send customers your way etc).
They seem to have pulled the plug on their free servcie so may i now recommend stats4all.com who do a similar (free) thing.
Its really worth having something like this if you are trying to get hits on your games website.

It''s quite valuable. You need to know resolution and color depth as well as browser used un order to design your site to cater to them.
My own site is incompatible with Netscape for the most part. It works, it just doesn''t look right. From using TheCounter in previous web ventures I know it''s not a big deal as most everyone uses IE or a Linux browser which work fine.
Where they''re coming from is just curiosity unless you have the money to advertise to a specific group.
Since I run my server out of house using Apache I have the raw logs. The only things I keep track of are
unique IPs per day, page views and bytes transfered. I skim the referer log every so often.
Searh engine hits currently come from anyone who uses Google.

By the way what happened to the banner rotation community we talked about a while back?

Dont worry i intend to make some suggestions along the lines of a banner scheme soon. basically I am trying to get enough people interested in collaborating to get a proper community together, unless Gamdev get a system in place before then

Btw why do we need a banner exchange community? Why not choose every week a different developer to make a one week banner exchange with? This way you only get the people you want.

http://www.webalizer.com - If you have your own server you should install this it gives you extremely detailed statistics on visitors.
Yeh, I would have to agree. I have webalizer installed on my host and it can be quite useful although I must say it doesn''t pick up a lot of keywords from searches which my other (Analogue) stats module does...
Aside from that though, I find it extremely useful at times for stats on my website...
