Doom 3 Source Code Questions
Im reading the doom 3 source code and was wondering if anyone knew how it loads in the level data.
I assumed that the gamex86.dll would load in the level .def files which would then list the required models, textures, scripts etc etc.
But looking through the source code, i cant see any code such as .md5mesh readers or .md5anim readers. If anyone knows how the data is loaded, could you tell me the source files which do so?
Thanks
I wasn't aware the source code had been released.
It's not a bug... it's a feature!
That's just the SDK. The engine (which is closed source) contains all the loading code - the gamex86.dll just interfaces with it.

Oh. When they said that Doom 3 was open source i thought they meant the whole engine. So does all the rest ever become open source?
Tech 3 (Q3 engine) is open sourced. Tech 4 will become Open Source eventually but only after the Doom 3/Quake Wars engine based titles have had their run.
