metroidvania idea

hey, ive had ideas (ive even got a movement and jumo engine at the moment) for a metroidvania style styled game. you play as an explorer who has fallen into an underground cave, after searching the cave he comes across ruins of an underground settlement at the start only a few things are available, doors are locked and stone statues dont move but once you find a room with a glowing core you can send power running through the city, anything that was a dull blue colour or had blue veins is now active- including the statues. you can find different coloured objects that can only work with the same coloured energy flowing through it. at the start the explorer can run, jump and crawl on the floor to enter smaller tunnels (much like samus' morph ball but less maneuverable) the explorer can find pieces of ancient technology in the ruins that allow him to do different things (an arm gun that allows him to shoot at doors and enemies is the first you find) but you will eventually be able to double jump, power up your arm gun, climb walls, lay mines, lift rocks, run fast across water (you usually drown) and super jump directly up destroying anything destrutable above you. using these abilities you will be able to make your way through the city destroying all the large boss statues and finding an exit. the only trouble im having is a lack of imagination about how the abilities can be strung together to make the game less samey when played. also any ideas for more upgrades will be great! oh, and one more thing...any enemy ideas, whether they are the robotic statues or like...enemies evolved from the former inhabitants would be great too, cheers!
