Hi... Does anyone have information what is average profit from match 3 games?? 1 company is offering us 8000$ or 12% of total profit so we are not sure what to accept... We think we have a hit game, but we could be wrong obviously..:) Also, company that is interested in our project wants that after we make this game we can't make any similar game + we lose all IP rights.. Is that ok? Thanks in advance

If it really is a hit game, then 8000$ total is not nearly adequate. I don't know if your 12% of total profit applies to anything over the 8000$ mark, or any other details of your contract.

If the game does well you would likely be far better off as percentages of revenue. Many bad companies will try to use "total profits" as a way to avoid paying you: it is easy to inflate expenses and to add costs to your project that really don't belong.

It really depends on the details of the contract details and what is customary in your part of the world. A good business lawyer will help you protect your interests.

No, it is probably not ok.

If you really are selling all your IP rights you should be demanding considerably more money. If they really require that you stop doing business you should be getting quite a lot in return. How can your business even exist if you are giving up both your most valuable property and your future products?

Hire yourself a good experienced lawyer or two. They should know business law and IP law. Give them copies of the various contracts, and don't sign anything from the publishing companies until after your lawyers have walked you through every detail and how it affects your business.

Is this the same group you were discussing contracts with 10 months ago, or is it another group?

If it is a second group, how did the first one turn out?

Just like the last time, you will be told that you need a lawyer before signing any business contract. Anything less is just plain stupid.

Those numbers are very low. Too low in my opinion.

Thanks everyone for answers...
Anyway, it turns out that it was really stupid to work without a contract..
And sadly it seems we will need to look for another company interested in our project... Game design document is fully complete, most of the code also...
Can anyone give suggestion which companies could be interested in project like this?? We need someone to make graphic , audio and publish game.. And in return they would get part of profit...

Errr this is some rather important information you neglected to mention in your first post.

If the game isn't finished and you want the publisher to help you make the game (which will cost them money) then that changes the whole nature of any deal and what is/isn't fair.

Well i am not sure is there any company that would accept something like this..
Like i told, we need someone to make graphic, sound and publish game and in exchange they would receive part of total profit...
We will make demo first and look for companies that could be interested..
Do not accept any profit sharing deal, look into hollywood accounting to see why.

If you're going to accept a share of anything make sure its revenue.
