Looking for reading on design development process

I'm looking for some reading on general project design/architecture development process in different environments (corporate, open source and/or others). Everything from starting the project to the release and maintenance. Some (paper/book) that has :
  • best practices for establishing team/community structure and good patterns/examples
  • guidelines on the process/systems for decision making (plain democratic, hierarchical, weighted voting where higher members have more importance, etc.).
  • formalizing the idea/project proposal, needed information, unneeded information, nice to have information, layout of the proposal etc.
  • patterns for developing/modifying the design parallel to the project development
A book along those lines would help, and it doesn't have to be limited to software development, I'm looking for a detailed overview on that and related topics.
A professor of mine wrote this book, had me review a couple of chapters. I haven't read the entire thing through, but the chapters I reviewed were pretty decent.
