I don't think this is going to really affect anything about the development of Linux, but it's nice to see this acknowledgment by the Old World. The nature of Linux means that (on a per-installation level) it is much less visible financially than the other players in the market. To see that one of the important distribution vendors got included into such an index anyway is an encouraging indication.
