Idea for a game programming book
Note: I hope this is in the appropriate forum, if not then if you can could you please move it to where it would best belong?
Create a game programming book that is written by the experts (of game programming) and reviewed by beginners simultaneously. Have it written section by section and then have feedback corresponding to the question, "Did you understand this section? How could it be made more clear?"
This is a response to the problem of the complicated aspects of programming. There are a lot of great books out there, but I believe that if we got together (beginners and experts alike) we could create a very powerful and comprehensible volume.
Thanks for reading. What are your thoughts on this?
the problem with this is that many people will interpret things in different ways so explaining it one way could teach 1/2 of all beginners but leave the other 1/2 in the dark. So the book would become a very monolithic looking tome before you got to C++ classes for instance. and when Graphics programming becomes involved it will take a book to explain the basic winApi code for creating a blank application.
but i do think that many of the books out there could be improved with the help of beginners. Having a book reviewed by masters of programming will think that basic stuff is so simple it will be overlooked half of the time.

An idea similar to this was used during the writing of Real World Haskell. You can see that the entire book is available online. Notice that after each paragraph there are a number of comments, most of which were written while the book itself was being written. In this way the authors got significant preliminary feedback from a large number of readers with all amounts of experience with Haskell.
I think it's a fascinating idea. The book went on to receive great reviews on Amazon.com.
