Altair Ibn'il Athir, Son of Emperor is the next in line to the Throne of the Empire of Catharia. To prove his worth to his father and to join the Order of Kl'aa (the Catharian Elite Knight Order), Altair is sent to find a Crystallis and drain the ether from it, so he can cast etherspells. Altair hears rumors of an undrained Crystallis in the Forest of Iddemus. He searchs the forest, to find a Crystallis and drain it. On his way back to the Empire, he is ambushed by a squadron of the elite Ordovian soldiers (Ordovia is the rival Empire of Catharia) lead by General Zalasemir. Altair defeats them with ease. Upon returning to Catharia his father is outraged that Ordovia dared to attack and starts taking measures to launch a campaign to conquer Ordovia. Altair joins the Order of Kl'aa (with a rank of Emir El Remeh - Prince of the Spear) and is assigned to missions to sabotage Ordovian plans, which included draining Crystallis and storing ether in fake Crystallis. Ordovia plans to drain all available Crystallis to make it's army invincible, even though ether is manifested only in those worthy of it. Altair heres of Ordovia taking interest in the Ulusua Mines, which are rumored to contain Several Crytallis. Altair goes there to find that Zalasemir provoked an ancient ether demon that lived in a certain Crystallis. That demon, named Nergal, kills Zalasemir, but could not harm Altair, as he was protected by the wandering Mage Valeth. Valeth and Altair hurry to warn Catharia of Nergal's awakening, who take measures to stop the Ordovian-Catharian War and unite against the demon Nergal. Nergal destroys Nablus, which becomes infested with fiends, and abides in it. Altair goes into Nablus Palace and challenges Nergal, who defeats Altair. Zalasemir's soul, fuelled by revenge, merges with Altair's Spear, and with this new found power, Altair manages to break through Nergal's outer shell (body). Nergal's Soul is still powerful though, and Altair is nearly killed but for Valeth's exorcism skills. Nergal never again returns. peace is restored to Catharia, and now Ordovia stands again, ruled by Valeth's line.
