Self-Described "Programming Ninjas" Seek A New Co-Worker Got sent this earlier today, personally I don't think there's enough facepalm in the world to image-macro-describe how I feel. What do you guys think? Genius-programmers being ironic? Or elitist douchebags? I guess the hiring strategy of "piss people off until they apply just to show us who is the boss" could work...
I like how they're posting the awful and good code samples as well. Gives me ideas, at least.

OMG!

Where to start? Let's leave aside the fact they don't seem to know English but are claiming to better than everyone else... some of my favourites:

Quote: Go away if you like Java or don't think running non-Microsoft OS is an adventure of awesome

Quote: If you have a Computer Degree of any variety and think it is worth anything, then go away and don't waste our time

So they want people with skills in functional languages, who didn't think learning functional languages at university was worthwhile? Or maybe they are specifically looking for people who went to bad universities which didn't teach functional programming, data structures, algorithms, etc.

Is this really genuine? I can't imagine how depressing it would be to work surrounded by people like that.
"Win #20" is pretty crazy.

I don't know what that is but I'm flagging it for best-of.

I interpreted that as being an implicit reference to people who go to university to major in "computers" because they're computer literate, and referring to people who think that the degree and not the experience and knowledge gained from it is important (i.e., referring to a "degree" in the sense of the piece of paper). Perhaps my thinking is too tangential.
Now, I don't understand most of the examples. So even if I work in related areas which use programming as a tool, would I be looked down upon or jeered by the typical 'ninjas'?

I'm guessing they need new co-workers because of the high rate of ritual suicide.

Just imagine trying to fix bugs or extend functionality of that type of nonsense.
