A Cry for Help

Hello GameDev community. I have not been an active member here much, but that was majorly due to life getting in the way of my true passions for game development. I am coming to you all on my knees begging for help. This isn't much better than me standing on the street begging until cops haul me away. I really do not think that I could feel any worse about myself than I do for posting this... I'm really down on my luck now and having more than a hard time finding any source of income. I am posting this message in hopes that there are enough good samaritans out there that I can have some of the load taken off my shoulders. Here is the hard truth. If I don't make $1500 in the next 70 days then I will have no place to live, nor any place to hold my belongings. I'm not asking anyone to pay this amount. It is my burden to bear, and my responsibility I know. I'm asking for just $1.00 or more if you are willing to donate any more. I am trying hard to find a "day job" but so far my attempts have been futile. I am not giving up on finding a job, I am just putting this message out there to try to get a little help. I know that everyone works hard for their money, and has no obligation to give me a dime. If you are willing to give to help me out of a bind, then please donate any sum that you wish to my PayPal account, or mail a check to my P.O. Box. PayPal: https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=6384272 Richard Marks P.O. Box 231311 New Orleans, LA 70183 If anyone could help me get some work that would be a major help. I am skilled in several programming languages, and I have more than 15 years of experience writing software and games. I unfortunately never have found my niche, or doorway into the industry yet, and I might never get that opportunity if I lose everything I have..which is starting to look very likely. Please, if there is anything that you can do to help, I beg you to please lend a helping hand to this poor developer whose life has been turned upside down from one event to another. Thank you. Blessings on everyone.

Sell most of your belongings and live in your car for a while, it's not that bad if you plan to be homeless, instead of waiting until its too late.

$1500.00 over 70 days is about $22.00 per day.

Even at a minimum wage, you should be able to make that much.

I did a job search for New Orleans and there are several maintenance jobs available. It's not your ultimate job preference, but it will get you out of a bind. If you really want to get yourself out of the hole, I would pick up more than one job. You have 16 hours available to you... use them.

Good places to look for work that usually aren't listed in the newpaper: Grocery stores, gas stations, and restaurants.

Do yard work, babysit, housesit, go to Hertz and ask if they have any cars to deadhead.

Get creative, and get up off your butt.

You can do it!

I take it your company, CCPS, isn't going well then?

Suppose you were to get your $1500. Then what happens after 70 days?

Vinnie doesn't break his leg?

I second the idea of finding work at a grocery store. Stocking shelves is so easy and it pays the bills.

It's not that difficult to go out and repair people's computer... With $0.50 worth of paper you can spam several supermarkets with handwritten pamplets(And for < $5 you can probably print some basic things at a copyshop) to put up at local grocery stores.

Make sure to charge a low hour tarif(Like, $15 to $20) and you'll probably make that money in about 60 days. If you're without a job, you can probably make a good living out if.

And if you're not good enough with computers, then learn it. It's not that difficult to reinstall Windows, remove spyware, viruses, update drivers, etc.

Well, I was thinking more in terms of a longer term solution. Sure, getting $1500 might fix his current problems, but what happens after the 70 days? Will he be back in the same situation he is in now?
wash some cars or something. Simple.
It's hard for a lot of people right now. I'm sure people here have families starting to struggle that they would help instead of you. Good luck, assuming this isn't a joke/fraud. I say that because you have only 2 other posts on this forum like we actually know who you are. If I had money I would only even consider a dollar if it were someone that actually helps people on this forum.

70 days is a long time to find money. How long have you been in this bad situation? Claim unemployment if you don't have a job.
