I still need to add collision detection.

Hmm... I was getting 15 fps, this ''card'' is bad, but its not *THAT* bad. You are implementing a LOD based terrain right (such as roam, or a nice quadtree algo), that could help a bit. A wireframe view would be nice to be able to see whats really going on.

Nah, no LOD as of right now.

With a 256*256 hight map, there should be about 21845 triangles (I think).

My engine is still FAR from being done though...
