The article reminds me of "The Expert Mind" (Scientific American, Aug 2006) which also made roughly the same claim. Genius = 10,000 hours of work.

As I remember, Alberth Einshtein had another opinion:
"We can be fully confident in appearance of talents. But we can pray only to appearance of genius"

These guys are all noobs with their beards and glasses from the 80's. Everyone knows a true game developer grows a Lemmy. And if you don't know what a Lemmy is, I pity you and require that you Google it before reading any further.

Heck yeah, down to the chin and over the lips. It's like a mullet, but all party and no work.

The selection of photographs shows another pattern: the majority of game developers have no sense of fashion.

Oh you are lucky I'm at work, otherwise you'd be getting a picture of Cliffy B in a bunny suit.

I grow a small beard every week. It goes from Clean Shaven Programmer -> Scruffy Cool Kid -> That hobo you just saw down the street. This cycles every week.

It's kind of funny seeing all these pictures of programmers and language developers. The richard stallman pictures just remind me of his dedicated fan club
I grow beards every now and again and I'm most certainly not an expert programmer. I prefer the design process instead of actually writing the damn thing.
