Everything is better with Metal.

Whatever it is, pick something with two syllables. Most of the first set of commands that dogs learn tend to be single syllable, so it's easier for the animal to tell the difference between a command and something else.

Or so some random tv programme told me.
If you're getting a peddigree dog like a doberman it will probably already have a KC name so maybe you could get some insperation from that. Some of the KC names are pretty cool I used to have a Staffordshire bull terrier and his official KC name was Lethal Weapon the third.
On the otherhand some of them can be really bad names. I just remembered one of the other dogs in the same Litter was called "Big Boys Boobie".

I had a dog when I was a kid, and I called him Sheriff. He was the only dog I ever owned.
I was influenced by the Ghetto you ruined.
Flappy :)
I gave my girlfriend a stuffed dog named Woofie. So I second "Woofie".
My parents have a dog named Roridan (Rory for short). I think that's one of the best dog names I've ever heard.

I also like pet names based on historical or mythological figures like Zeus, Genghis, Ares, Newton etc.
