I've found that talking to people who know stuff generally helps with anything. If anybody has MSN here could they please PM me their email address (or post if here if they want) just so I have some people added who know stuff (about game programming) =D.
You could try the #gamedev IRC chat.

I have, it's cool, but MSN is highly preferable! Plus, then you can add somebody and you will be able to talk to them again.
For what it's worth, there was once a thread on here where everyone shared their MSN info so that they could have chats with fellow game developers/programmers. I joined in and added about 50 people. In the two years they've been on my contact list, I've never chatted with any of them. Am I anti-social? who knows. I just don't chat with anyone because there's nothing interesting to talk about.

A potential conversation thread:
Person A: "So, uh, how about that djisktras shortest path algorithm, huh? pretty nifty!"
Person B: *plays along in a friendly way, waiting to kill the conversation* or *ignore & delete*
The nice thing about IRC is that when a problem is asked there are more than one people giving input. You tend to get a much nicer answer.

There are many regulars on the channel:
#gamedev stat page

If you stay a while you'll realize there's a little community of people on there.
I prefer 1 to 1 conversations.

I guess nobody is up for a chat then.

You might try asking someone on the IRC chat if you can private message them for a one on one conversation. The private message feature works much like MSN. (I've never actually used MSN before so I'll figure it's like AIM).
