Hi dudes! When does an engineer (MSc Computer Scientist) become senior engineer? Is a question of time or a question of experience? Thanks a lot.
I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die.
It really depends on the company you work for, or the job ads you respond to. "Senior" is only a title, after all.

It is usually one of these:

Age > other programmers in studio
Salary > other programmers in studio
Completed games > other programmers in the studio

Yes, if only because you need the former to get the latter.

I dispute that someone with Computer Science is an engineer at all [razz]

When you successfully apply for a 'Senior Engineer' job or otherwise get your job title changed.

It is pretty much just a title. It implies you have more experience, knowledge, and get paid more etc, but doesn't necessarily guarantee any of that.
