That's gonna be pretty uncomfortable to get out of; even worse than the Lotus Elise, since you'll need at least some of a rocker panel lip to keep rocks from coming in and bruising your legs/genitals/face. I assume you don't have doors, at least, so you're expecting to be uncomfortable.

A lot of the guys who do GMC conversions use Classic Performance Products' setups, and they have a few (such as the Corvette) that are a short enough ratio to be reasonable. TransTec also makes power steering gubbins but I think you need a higher volume than you've got. Other than that, you can google around - I'm not really up on steering as much as I am with other drivetrain parts. My suggestion is to pick a car you like the steering of and cannibalize it.

I noticed you didn't budget for a replacement clutch; with that rear-end you might want to consider it. My recommendation brand-wise is Centerforce.

As for seats, have you considered a junkyard pull? I just found a pair of nice Recaros in a rolled Eclipse that would have been perfect if the passenger-side rail didn't get shattered as part of the accident.

hydraulic or cable handbrake? I've seen good applications of the former but it requires a lot more thought.

Does the cable handbrake means electrically actioned (as opposed to hydraulic which works by pumping fluid) ?

Cable means there's physically a steel cable (not a wire) connecting the handlever to the brake calipers, like a bicycle. I'm not aware of any brake by wire setups.

Dang, where was that at? I haven't seen anything that cool at pick-n-pull here in Calgary. The only thing I saw there was row after row of cavaliers, 1980 style accords, and a few Taurus wagons.
I too would like to know where! haha i went to a junk yard yesterday and it was piles of cars with random car parts inside the cars, it was a pretty high car part density. i was lead to a complete mustang 2 ifs in the back of a pickup with no wheels.

there were no racing seats within miles of me. :)

and i was thinking, what happend to the guy you were talking about if he didnt want his racing seats after the crash.. and then why would you want them either :P

Oh, like a bicycle I get it. Looks huge in the screenshot, almost like a Formula 1 cart. Will you cover the frame with a windshield and mettal sheet.

Like I said, rolled. The airbag had a little bit of what looked like blood and hair on it, so the ghoulish implications also weren't too big of a winner for me. The worst part is that the passenger airbag was also deployed, indicating he brought someone along for the ride around the Z axis.

I have no idea how he/she managed to crash it; under the hood it just had the 420A, not even the 4G63. There's a bunch of RX-7s as well, but none with bucket seats.

Moe: I went to Pick Your Part on Barlow. I found the seats last year. I haven't had a chance to go this spring yet. Hot imports usually go pretty fast; by the time I got there the engine had been picked clean and the wiring harness torn out.

Huge really? :( it's going to be street legal, is it still huge for the street?

the windshield cutout is identical to a first gen rx7. the glass should fit right in, i'll make minor adjustments to it when i finalize the chassis and get more accurate windshield measurements.

i'm planning on putting a sheet metal or composite material where the traditional firewall would go. this should stop any road rocks, exaust flames, or shattered turbine blades. there will also be a pan and a console covering the drive shaft.

From my understanding, cars in which people actually died are sent directly to scrap metal, after being held in evidence processing for a very long period of time.

I suspect they were just shaken up pretty badly. That said, I'm not chancing getting haunted by a ghost who wants his Recaros back.
