Take up playing Paintball.

Nothing says "Hi, want to be my friend!?" like a ball of wax and paint traveling at 300km/h hitting a face mask!

Hahahaha!

The best suggestion.
I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die.
Am I the only one who read the thread title as being about friends who make trouble for the OP?

That's my plan for the weekend when I'll be paint balling with 29 other people.. only one of which I vaguely know from play TF2/L4D with... should be intresting [grin]

(although, as introductions go it's probably better than my old method where, upon meeting someone new in a pub and being introduced to them by a friend, I would open with "hi, I'm rob.. look at this" and show them the girl in the tub, or the goat which can see... at this point they knew what to expect [grin])

Superficial relationships are plentiful, but I rarely find someone to do things with outside of school.

What do I do about it?

Why would I have missread school by alcohol? Something is very wrong with me.

I personally think that, while sad, it's not important. As a general rule, people is simple and cares mostly about simple things: money, sports, news. If you want a frienship with such people, you gotta get as simple as you can.

I definitely don't want to associate with trouble makers. [wink]

Well find out where all the people with the same interests hang out. There is bound to be at least one person you can relate to and maybe become lifelong friends. Oh and don't listen to the people telling you to be careful about your looks cuz this ain't a job interview unless you are trying to pick up girls or pick up more superficial friends that picked you just cuz of your looks LOL!
Oh and if you ever get invited to a party or some other outing don't turn it down cuz people will see you as a loser and not want to hang out or ask you again.
But the key is to get out there and make your physical presence known to others since studies show that the more contacts you have the more chances you have of making lasting friendships.

The best advice I could give is to make sure that you are and that you are being the most attractive person you can be.

Nah...just join a LARP.

No need to change you. Just change your surroundings. Go to a LARP event.

No matter how much of a loser you are, there will be at least 10 people there who are 10 times the loser you'll ever be...they'll be dying for friends! ;-)

All joking aside, seriously, check out a LARP. Even if you've never role-played even once. Even if the idea sounds queerer than a $2 bill. If you hate it (and you probably will), no harm, no foul.

However, if you like it, you can make some *very* strong friendships there. There is something about the psyche of a LARPer that allows them to create strong bonds with people very easily. They can look past *anyhing*, and see a person for what they really are inside.

I guess they have to in order to be able to look in a mirror. ;-)

P.S. But don't go to a Furry Convention...those people are just...*weird*. ;-P

Does anyone still play Vampire anymore? I remember that was big for LARP back in the day.

The board game? Don't think so. Haven't heard about in the communities I'm part of (Offline, talking bout' here). Brilliant incarnation on the PC, mind you. Just get the latest unofficial patch by Wesp first at: http://www.planetvampire.com/bloodlines/files/patches/

Hey, this is getting of the subject of anothrguitarist OP. I don't think he's looking at it anymore, but it'd be good to follow up in good faith.

P.S. I know that's a bit of fail, but at least the next generation of Vampire: Bloodlines players won't have endure endless bugs.
