Do anyone knows any site where I can get high-quality satellite photos of the earth. But they have to be high-quality images and I don't want to make thousands of screen shots in Google Earth. If you know or read something, then let me know, please. [Edited by - Chuck300 on April 17, 2009 8:09:18 AM]
I think most of the Google-Earth material is anyway verbotten for use in own media.

Further, I think I am not sure what your definition of high-quality is.

But maybe wikipedia can help you. They have tons of free images. Also, make sure to check Nasa sites for free material (lots of the wikiedia material is actually from Nasa).

Oh, and look at the first result on this untrivial [google]-search: google: high quality earth texture.

There is 500 m/pixel images from NASA: Blue Marble Next Generation.
It takes 1.34 GB to download.
Super nice, bubu LV. Gonna fetch those fine textures at home!
Also, be sure to check out: Visible Earth from NASA.

I believe you can interact directly with the google maps service (if not, you can with any other service). All you have to do is put together a small XML document of the data you want (lat / lon / zoom / range / markers) and send it off to the map service, they'll respond with either another XML document containing a data blob which is the image. Or they'll send you a temporary URL to the generated image.

You could request the whole earth, or 1km squares and stitch them together procedurally.

Thanks a lot.

But what about those XML-Requests I dunno how that shall work.
I mean can I directly access google within a game and update my maps for
let's say a flight simulator???
