Do you know any good cheap device to read e-books? (PDF, etc)
Does something like this exist? I just want an LCD screen to read some text. And it gotta be cheap (<= $50 ).

I recently picked up a used Compaq iPaq 3950 for about that price on Amazon that runs Pocket PC 2003 and can handle PDFs. Not very fancy at all, but if you're just looking for something simple...

I was using an later model Sony Clie I got from a relative. They're fairly cheap. In fact, pretty much any old PDA you'll find on ebay can read mobi, but choose one with a higher resolution and in color.

A used PSP running a homebrew pdf reader will work.

A DS running homebrew will work as well.
A used iPod Touch (look on Craigslist. A guy I know got one for $100 on there). The Compaq iPac is about $94 currently, so that seems to be the cheapest. < $50 seems unrealistic for this.

I think I might be going for a LG Phenom H-120. I found one for $60. That should be more than enough for reading some pdf's, etc.

If 640 x 240 is good enough for the pdfs you'll be reading, go for it. Personally, I strongly suggest the eee pcs. They're not $50 yet, but refurb models are going for around $150 now at retailers, and it's the least expensive "reader" I've been happy with (and it beats many more expensive readers as well - I don't know why so many devices "support pdf" by reflowing them, which completely defeats the point of the pdf "same everywhere" format).

Does anyone know of a device like this, but with e-ink instead of an LCD (and probably for ~$100)? I've seen the Kindle 1/2 and Sony's reader, but they're loaded with stuff I don't want (wireless, MP3, etc.) and too expensive. I really just want an e-ink PDF viewer that I can upload to via USB.
