Ravuya's playing off the inside joke that I set up. It probably won't make sense if you haven't read The Illuminatus! Trilogy. Come to think of it, the Illuminatus! Trilogy probably won't make much sense if you aren't familiar with the post-war history of the US, including the conspiracy theories from the communist infiltration of McCarthyism and the John Birch Society, to JFK assassination conspiracies, to moon landing conspiracies and beyond. An easier entry point is probably Dr. Strangelove or The Manchurian Candidate or the essay: The Paranoid style in American Politics.

Wait, what?

Also, am I the only one who finds "Hashshashin" a lot of fun to say out loud?

There's something really awesome about a dope-smoking back-stabbing islamic ninja. These guys are cool; and by cool, I mean totally sweet.

It is I, the spectaculous Don Karnage! My bloodthirsty horde is on an intercept course with you. We will be shooting you and looting you in precisely... Ten minutes. Felicitations!

The Masons thing always gets me. I got a buddy steadily working his way up in the group. While they might do some funny things (and wear funny hats) he has never once mentioned any secret things going on....

Isn't that kind of the point of secret things, that you don't just mention them when cruising around town?

He is pretty chatty when he is drunk and I've seen some things I shouldn't have. Nothing bad, books about how meetings are supposed to be ran and that sort of thing. Things that "outsiders" aren't supposed to see. So if the Masons were in league with the lizard men to take over the world he doesn't know about it or original suggestions are in play.

You're all crazy, raving lunatics and off your heads- which I like verrrrryyy muuuccch!

Nice to see a few inside jokes (even though I have no idea what they were about. I didn't read the Illuminati articles and essay). I also had no idea that there was a society called the Skullz n' Bonez (Much cooler way of saying it *does very bad rap pose*). Heh heh- we've got a "real" conspircay theorist on our virtual hands inside the matrix of GameDev.net "hallowed" forums *does a w00t w00t cheer*.

Let me ask, how many people typed in Hashshashin without knowing about them? Seriously, I have the feeling many gamers wouldn't have known about them (I might be wrong here). Actually, thinking about it, I did happen to come across a couple of articles on two different websites some years ago on the Vikings as I was doing research for a project. Guess what! Those very same articles made references to the Hashshahshin with regards to the fact that they had at one point made contact with each other.

I didn't follow this any further as it didn't interest me- even though the secretive underground society held grounds and power in the Middle-East, Mediterranean (incl. Isreal and Iberia) and parts of Southern and Eastern Asian. Those articles were probably FAR (Fails All Round) or bulljack (however you want to say it), but I'm not delving further into matters where "The Rightousness of Allah" holds place (No discrimination intended, but for the record, it's very scary how efficient they were- espeically as they supposedly needed a target from Allah and then from there used all means to kill them!).

Also, everyone who at least hold a modicum of interest in conspiracies, knows that they were the secretive assassin cultist order that the order from Assassin's Creed was based on.

P.S. I'm going to do one more pose, just for the hell of it. *Does Cool Cat deep thought pose* Epic Success! Moderate digression; listening to Lee Ritenour right now- anyone listen to him and similar artists?

Also people with an interest in history.

To be honest, I dont think the Hashshashin are that unknown in modern society, for one because its where the word assassin comes from, and secondly because its related to the word hashish. The Hashshashin as a religious order who liked to get high on hash is a popular little factoid amongst stoners, at least around here. I think I first heard it when I was maybe 14, long before I was interested in anything to do with conspiracies.

Apart from that... Im quite interest in various conspiracy theories, but there doesnt seem to really be anything in this thread to actually talk about. As Sneftel pointed out, you say "I have a question" but then dont actually seem to get around to asking it...
