Truespace 7.6 for designing maps?
Hi, I have downloaded the TS7.6 download, and I've read that people are using it for game content, which I can see easily for Character models and stuff. But from what I thought high end programs like MAX, and Truespace are to much for level design in many ways. Is it really possible to use TS for level design. And if so, how do you do it.
Also, this is the very beginning of a level I'm working on, Called Nomads, a remake of a Jedi Knight 2 level I created. (Now I'm getting back into it, 11 years later.) and wondering if this is a good way to design a level. theres one large landscape model, which is a Box, with hollowed out area for a Arena, and Small outpost. then the rest is misc meshed. or is this a bad approach.
Any help would be great
Rather than Game Design, I think the folks in Visual Arts can help you with this, so I'm moving it there.

It's a good approach if it works but you should do your sketches first on paper before making the level itself in true space because then you'll know exactly what you're going to do.
I found a way to make my levels that involves drawing a floorplan in a program like autocad, then extruding the void spaces (instead of the walls) and then flipping the normals in 3D Max or something else. Then I use the 3d modeling program to apply textures and everything else. Doing this speeds up the whole process a lot for "real world" looking levels.

I never thought of using flip normals
Hows Auto Cad for level design? think its better suited?

It makes creating areas with precise dimensions a lot easier
Just something I made up in a few minutes
You start with this

Then you extrude the voids and get something like this

Then you do the rest in truespace (texturing, adding furniture, etc).
