Hey everyone, so im looking into getting a new monitor and am pretty well decided on this one: here It has gotten good reviews and seems to meet or exceed all the competitors in this price/size range. 22' is just about what im looking for (this is measured diagonal right?), I want to use it for gaming, programming, etc. though for a short time might be looking to use as a TV. I would like to stay under 200 as much as possible. Any suggestions out there?
Newegg's reviews are typically pretty reliable. I bought a 24" asus from them and even though I was a bit weery because I didn't think ASUS had produced monitors that long it was just as the reviews said it was, excellent.

Seems decent enough.

Personally, I went a bit larger than that and got a Dell 23" capable of doing 1920x1080. I haven't really found a lot of 1080 content yet (I'm not buying into blu-ray any time soon), but it has been pretty decent, especially considering what I paid for it ($191 CDN, including shipping. Since they were so cheap, I bought two, and have a wicked wide dual monitor setup now).
try to get a 4:3 instead of 16:10,16:9
the area is larger (~6%) for the same number of diagonal inches

Unfortunatly 4:3 monitors arent as common as they once were

he compares working on a single monitor to trying to get work done on an airplane tray table. In theory it's possible to do everything you could on a full desk but once you go to multiple monitors you never want to go back. I have to try it soon...

This is very, very true.

I'm currently down to one screen because my laptop's on-board LCD panel died so I can only use the thing if I send all the output to my external monitor.

It's annoying.

I'm all for dual (or triple) monitors as well. I've got the two 23" monitors at home, and two 19" 4:3 and a 20" at work.
Thats funny that dual monitors is brought up. This is my attempt to avoid that. Right now im literally working on a monitor the size of an airplane tray haha!! So anything over 20" would be awesome!

I've been trying to avoid dualies bec i have seen people that DEF don't need them using them and it put a bad taste in my mouth and i wanted to hold off until absolutely necessary. I know its stupid but i dont have the money anyway.

Anyway, as someone pointed out about Blu-ray and HD, i realized that this isn't HD (or at least it doesn't have an HDMI input) and this would be a consideration for me since I may end up using it as a PS3 monitor as well, would that work? So here is what i am considering now. Here

I didn't see a mention of the aspect ratio but that is a good point as well. What I am particularly concerned with is the refresh rate and it looking smooth and all. and this seems to be good in that department.

i'd say it depends on what you do , we switched over to dual screens at work and i'd trade them in a heartbeat for a single bigger screen (even if it amounts to less total surface), hell i'd gladly get rid of the 2nd one either way actually , i never use it. while it's nice if you need to run multiple apps if you spend pretty much 100% of your time on the same app and it doesn't benefit much from having it's functionality split on 2 screens (i look at you vstudio!) then what's the point?
Personally I'd get this one, because it has a pivoting stand. I like to run one 22 horizontal, and one vertical on the side for reading long documents, code, etc.
