For all those interested: Internet Explorer 8 is now ready for downloading. It's supposed to be fully standards-complaint and it feels pretty fast. Now if only it had extensions like adblock and noscript...

Yeah after the previous versions I can't bring myself to download it either :).

Rendering web pages seems faster. &#106avascript performance is still an abomination (1ms+ to concatenate strings?!), which is something I care a lot more about.

Hopefully it can displace Chrome for me...I like a lot of things about Chrome but it's so unbelievably glitchy on Vista that I would love to abandon it.

Well managed to download it but IE8 is behaving strange.CTRL clicking on links opens them in new tabs as usual but pages don't load.
Anyone else encountered a problem like that?

Half the time, trying to open a new tab or window doesn't work at all for me. I'll click the little space to the right of the tabs, and I'll see a new tab flash in and out of existence in a few milliseconds. Same thing for Ctrl-N to open a new window.

Yup, back to Chrome.

Running as administrator fixed the problem for me.

meh, gonna wait. The last beta screwed up pretty much everything for me, including the internal help browsers in VS. I'll wait until the next service pack - I'm pretty much a Chrome convert lately now anyway.
