Hey guys, I wonder how many of you remember this 'My first RTS game' thread from 2002. It was a surprisingly advanced (for a "first game") simple RTS game demo, with a visual style quite similar to Warcraft and gameplay probably close to that of AoE. It had some funny-looking large people (on the same scale as buildings/trees), which gave the game a kinda cute look (imo). Many people didn't believe that the guy (bmarci) could've made such a good first game in only 3 months. I think it turned out that he had some experience in coding, but he never worked on a game until then. In any case, I recently found out by chance that it seems like the game has been finished into a complete commercial product named "BC Kings" (only a couple months ago). There is a demo available, as well some info and screenshots on his site: http://www.mascot.hu/games/bc/index.html Personally, I've tried the demo and liked it a lot (even though I was never much into AoE or WC games). It seems to capture and re-something a lot of the original feel/look of the early WIP from 2002, and it's very polished, complete with a storyline, cutscenes, menus, items, heroes, a campaign with side-quests, multiplayer, etc. I'm actually considering buying the full version, barring my own issues with time management. Well, I just wanted to post this for anyone else who had seen bmarci's original 2002 thread and liked the project enough to be interested in playing the final product. This thread was in no way endorsed by the OP, I chose to make it all on my own. :) [Edited by - shurcool on March 8, 2009 7:58:05 PM]
Wow, I actually do remember that game. It had Warcraft II's visual style and everything was really huge [smile] It was around the time I was working at Westwood Studios, so you can imagine how cool everyone thought it was when I sent out a link.

I'm glad he finally took it all the way and made it into a commercial game. It would be interesting to see if he'd be willing to write a post-mortem article and put it up here. Unfortunately it doesn't look like he's been active in a while.
