Isn't the whole point of an XPS that it's a gaming laptop? If it can't run games it doesn't sound like it is as advertised.
Laptops being used for gaming are going to run hot, thats just the way it is.

Especially the more compact models. The compact the components, the less room there is for heat to escape. Luckily I get the impression they've been designed to handle the temperatures a little better than desktop systems.

I had a Laptop I used for gaming in which ... I kid you not ... over many long play sessions I actually melted the stickers off the bottom. Didn't seem to affect the performance of the computer however.

That said, some good suggestions have already been mentioned.
The easiest is raising the laptop up a little bit so that air can flow underneath. You'd be surprised how much this helps. And, with your laptop model, I believe the highest capacity battery does just that - I know the 9cell battery is great for raising the m1330 up.

Also, you want to be very sure it's not sitting on fabric or anything else that can restrict airflow and/or act as a source of particulate matter to be pulled into the case by the fans.

This of course brings up cleaning ... use some air cannisters and get every bit of dust out of the case as you can. This improves airflow and ensures the fans are doing the best job they can.

Hot is fine. But if using a gaming laptop for playing games gets it so hot it turns off, that's not fine. OK, so the 1530 isn't technically in the gaming laptop section of the site, but a laptop advertising "performance & astonishing functionality" shouldn't turn off when you try to use it for something more than MSWord.
