Game design document - How do i set one out?
I am in the process of making one of my game ideas and I was told that putting all the information into a design document would not only sort it all out but make it look professional. So i searched them on the net but haven't been able to find a good example of what i need to do. If anyone could give me the link to a good one, email me a template or just tell me how, it would be much appreciated -The Supplanter

It depends on the game's genre.
I want to help design a "sandpark" MMO. Optional interactive story with quests and deeply characterized NPCs, plus sandbox elements like player-craftable housing and lots of other crafting. If you are starting a design of this type, please PM me. I also love pet-breeding games.

Linear or non-linear?
For an action RPG you are going to need a brief summary of the game concept and the game's controls, perspective, art style, and main features. Next section should probably be the playable character(s) appearances, abilities, multi-use tools, and stats/stat related items if any. Then you will need an entry for every location and each puzzle and major treasure (such as tools) within each location. Next scripts for any plotted scenes, scripts for what each NPC is supposed to say and how this changes at specific points in the game, lists of items and prices each NPC is selling, and an entry for every monster.
