I need to compress my in-game cutscenes with a decent quality codec. I know Mpeg-1 patent has expired - Just curious if anyone knows where I can find an actual mpeg-1 codec to download. (I did a search but all kinds of stuff comes up) I wanted to get some feedback from other developer on what they use for a low cost codec. I need a codec that shows up in my ulead movie making software as an option to compress the movie with and it is a codec that I can legally distribute and install on end-users computer with my game. I dont even mind paying for one (up to $500) I know BINK has a royalty free codec - but it is $6000!!!! (sorry if this is the wrong place - but it is sorta a legal question - since technically I cant really use all the free codecs floating around out there since they use mpeg 2 or higher technology, right?) Any suggestions? Thanks Bill

I guess xvid, its mpeg4. Its free, free to use to compress and free to end users.
